re: field “install in directory”
Leave it blank if you want the blog in the root of your domain.
If you want a special folder for your blog e.g. www.yourdomain.com/blog put the folder name into the field and the folder will be created ( it should NOT be present before installing wordpress)
Choose:
username + password for your blog (login details for your blog)
choose nickname (for writing posts)
Input Your email. The name & description of the Blog (you can changed later)
Click install wordpress and you now have WordPress Blog on your domain with the default theme (design). The theme can be changed.
Login to your blog at www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin to look at the backoffice of your blog.
The Blog is installed as http://yourdomain.com without www, but you can easily change to http://www.yourdomain.com
Login and in and in “General Settings”: WordPress address (URL) and Blog address (URL)
Change http:// —-> to http://www
Input the home page title, description and keywords. Save changes.
You will be loged out automatically – log in again.
